Katalin BÓDIS

 
 

Katalin Bódis is a senior data analyst with a PhD in Earth Sciences. During her 18 years of professional career in the academic sector and public administration, Katalin has gained experience in development and analysis of databases and decision support systems, database harmonization, system integration, geographic information management, spatial analysis, thematic cartography and different web-based publishing technologies.

Research interest:

-  Geospatial development aiming integrated water resources and river basin management;

-    Renewable energy resource assessment, mapping and monitoring (Europe,    Africa);

-   Assessment of hydro-power potentials (climate change, mini-hydro, pumping station);

Human impact assessment based on environmental, technical and socio-economic aspects;

-    Development of GIS-based optimisation tools for rural electrification (Africa).

- Data mining, geo-data processing, geo-database harmonization and integration;

-   Spatial data modelling, data harmonisation, system integration supporting interoperability;

-  Data transformation and conversion (variant reference systems, formats, resolution etc.);

-    Processing and analysing large geo-data sets in continental/global coverage;

-   GIS technologies for environmental applications, creation and management of geodatabases;

-    Digital elevation modelling, cell-based modelling, network analysis;

-    Spatial statistical operations and GIS programming (raster, vector, relational DB);

-    Thematic mapping including hazard and risk mapping.

-   Processing and analysing continental and global data sets (hydrography, hydro-meteorology, terrain, land use) and databases (water resources, soil, renewable energy resources);

-   Development of conceptual geodata models and production of tools and methods to support interoperability through translation from diverse schema to common models;

-     Development of GIS database and geoecological mapping;

-     Modelling of human impacts on the landscape;

-     Multi-hazard, risk and damage mapping;

-   Assessment of climate change effects on floods and water resources in Europe and Africa (data mining, system integration, spatial analysis and mapping);

-    Modelling urban development by using cellular automata, development of integrated suitability maps in cellular automata-based land use model;

-    Assessment and mapping of renewable energy resources (solar, wind, hydro), development and integration of GIS-based optimisation tools for rural electrification planning in Africa;

-    Optimized energy solutions in rural Africa: mapping electrification costs of distributed solar and diesel generation versus grid extension.
